Alexanderplatz mit Fernsehturm
Berlin Highlights at a Glance
For this tour, plan in a full day. Savour your first coffee at a breathtaking height on the Berlin TV Tower with a fantastic 360° view of the entire city. At the foot of the TV Tower, you can find the Little Big City, a miniature city taking you on an exciting interactive journey through seven different eras in Berlin. Then head past the renowned Weltzeituhr (World Time Clock) on Alexanderplatz to Berlin’s landmark Rotes Rathaus town hall. From there, stroll through the Nikolai Quarter, the oldest area of housing in the city. Cross the Liebknechtbrücke bridge to the Berliner Dom (Cathedral). Leaving the Museum Island, head for the Hackesche Höfe. Explore the wealth of small shops in this chic courtyard complex and take a relaxing break in one of the many coffee houses and restaurants. Then stroll the magnificent Unter den Linden boulevard and visit the Brandenburg Gate. Enjoy the original Berlin Currywurst snack at Curry Wolf directly at Brandenburg Gate, and then relax on the lawn in front of the nearby Reichstag Parliament building.
When you’re ready head past the Chancellery to Tiergarten Park and the Siegessäule (Victory Column). Or just walk back through Brandenburg Gate to experience the spaces that make up the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. Give yourself time to let this remarkable memorial have its effect. Potsdamer Platz with designs by top international architects is just a short walk away. Here, you can also trace the history of this square and view some original pieces of the Berlin Wall before taking Europe’s fastest elevator to the Panorama Punkt. In just seconds, you are 100 metres up, and can enjoy another very different sight of the city. With its truly breathtaking views, the café is great spot for a break.
If you are out and about with the kids, a visit to the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Berlin is an absolute must. The ultimate LEGO indoor playground is ideal for children from 3 to 10 years. Or you can visit the German Spy Museum and explore the fascinating shadowy world of espionage. With its World of Dinosaurs and other fascinating exhibitions, the Museum für Naturkunde, the natural history museum, is always well worth a visit.
You can also experience many of the key sights conveniently on a city tour (e.g. with Berlin City Tour or Berlin City Circle Sightseeing), on a walking tour (e.g., with Original Berlin Walks) or on a relaxed river cruise (e.g. with the Reederei Bruno Winkler or Stern und Kreisschifffahrt boats).
