The ride in the fastest lift in all of Europe takes just 20 seconds.

Then visitors enter the open-air observation deck of the PANORAMAPUNKT 100 metres above Potsdamer Platz, offering a fascinating view of Berlin. This spot is particularly good because the Kolhoff Tower stands directly where the Berlin Wall once divided the city. To the east, you can see for example the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, the Cathedral and the TV Tower. To the west, you can see the Victory Column, Bellevue Palace and the the radio tower.

Even before the outbreak of World War II, Potsdamer Platz was one of the liveliest squares in all of Europe - but after the war it lay in ruins. And when the Berlin Wall was built in 1961, Potsdamer Platz remained an empty wasteland in the middle of the city for 40 years. It was only in the 1990’s after German reunification that it became the largest construction site in Europe. In the span of just a few years, Potsdamer Platz became a brand new city centre with high-rise buildings and the Sony Center. The Kollhoff Tower was finished in 1999 and has 25 floors, topped with the PANORAMAPUNKT.

Besides spectacular views, you are brought closer to the history of this multi-faceted resort in the open-air exhibition "BERLIN VIEWS of Potsdamer Platz". Let the collected impressions take effect with coffee and cake in the glass-enclosed Panoracafé. A treat for all the senses.
