Berlin Highlight Tour
The best possible start to a classic Berlin day: The impressive view from the Berlin TV Tower. Enjoy the magnificent 360-degree view of the capital from a height of 207 meters. You can then walk to the interactive DDR Museum: Experience the everyday facets of everyday life in the GDR and life with the Wall: listen to the music and explore an authentically-furnished prefabricated apartment. You can find out more about German history at the German Historical Museum, which is just a few minutes' walk away. Alternatively, take the U5 U-Bahn line from Alexanderplatz, and after just three stations and a two-minute walk, you will reach the Computer Games Museum, which shows you the history of computer games from the first consoles to modern 3D worlds.
The Museum Island is in front of the German Historical Museum. Immerse yourself in the world of the oldest cultures, exciting architecture and fascinating masterpieces. Take the opportunity to take a little breather and relax in Monbijoupark just opposite during the warmer months.
On the opposite side, you will find the new Humboldt Forum, and if you follow the Unter den Linden boulevard, you will pass, among other things, the German State Opera, St Hedwig's Cathedral, the Neue Wache and the Humboldt University with its sunken library on Bebelplatz. At the end of the boulevard is the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin's most important landmark and, since the fall of the Berlin Wall, the symbol of German unity. In the left wing you will find the Berlin Tourist Information, where you can obtain all kinds of tickets and expert advice for your stay in Berlin, as well as typical and unusual souvenirs.
The Reichstag, with its imposing dome, is just a few minutes' walk away (registration required: bundestag.de/besuche). If you continue to the main railway station, you can take the S-Bahn, which will take you to the sporty part of the tour in just under half an hour: the Olympiastadion Berlin.
