BKA-Theater

Since 1988, the jewel amongst cabaret theatres has been residing at Mehringdamm in Kreuzberg: the Berlin Kabarett Anstalt, BKA theatre for short or - as Berliners call it - the BKA.

A handful of cabaret artists known as CaDeWe toured West Germany from 1978 to 1985 with their cheeky political satire. They then reorganised into the "Die Enterbten" ("The Disinherited") and sought a permanent home, which they found in the attic of the traditional storefront at Mehringdamm 34, expanding what was once the legendary nightclub Dachluke into a stage for their shows.

Today, the BKA offers cabaret, comedy, shows, improv, concerts, singer-songwriters, and upside-down musicals. The mornings feature English-language children's theatre and every Tuesday evening is "Unerhörte Musik," Germany's only weekly concert series for contemporary music.
